The Return of the Light

The Return of the Light

Exactly 4 months from the first scoop of dirt, I finished the sauna! It's really incredible to see a dream made real. My sauna practice has deepened 10-fold over the last year, going from simply a thing to do because it feels good to a profoundly sacred and transformative ritual.

It's also the perfect place to journey inward for the solstice. To contemplate the close of another year and set some intentions for the year to come, as we celebrate the return of the light.

Ink on Paper

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at the craft show in the Dome and to the open house at SOMA! It's always great to share a booth with my fellow doer-of-words-the-hard-way, and during the open house the building had such a great vibe.

Having the Salvation Army bell-ringer behind us for hours on end was...not ideal.
The worlds largest wooden dome, behind a not-quite-as-big fleshy dome
Had a lot of fun setting up the studio as a little shop

I printed these holiday cards with snowflakes from Bowerbox Press, who has been slowly learning the skill of crafting new lead type. The blue ink has a little bit of metallic silver mixed in, so it has a slight shimmer to it. The typeface I actually found in a dusty old drawer that came with the stuff I got from Fred. Didn't even know I had it, but it worked perfectly!

Upcoming Events

That's it for 2025! Still planning out 2026, but as of now I'm eyeing Pride Fest, The Outback, the Chocolay Bayou Art Walk, and the Dome show for sure, and I'd love to get into the Blackrocks art sale (someone hook me up!) and more open studios, too. Any other events you think I should check out?
