Amanita Minute

I'm so happy that there are people still out there breathing life into old machines and casting lead type. The letterpress industry wasn't (isn't?) just the presses themselves, it's the entire ecosystem of type, leading, ink, rollers, spare parts, tympan, and hundred other things. So when that industry fades into the boutique, the whole of it needs to transition, too, not just pieces. Like for film photography, you need folks who still manufacture film, but you also need the developing equipment, chemicals, etc.
Anyway, I just got my hands on this absolutely delightful Amanita mushroom border from Bowerbox Press, and I got to use it on a recent wedding program project. I've another border of hers on a Thoreau print and card.
Coming to the end of the summer whirlwind. It's been fun, but I'm really looking forward to settling back into a rhythm.
Ink on Paper
I printed up some covers and made some journals and planners for the Bayou Art Walk, but then that event was canceled due to crappy weather. I'll have them up on my site soon, though!

Speaking of which, my online shop is live! I soft launched it a couple weeks ago, and now that my very first sale went through smoothly I'm ready to put it out into the world: https://www.philbrittonstudio.com/
Upcoming Events
This weekend - Sept 6th & 7th - I'll be at Art on the Mountain at Marquette Mountain. It's a fairly new event that has been growing in recent years, come check it out! Weather looks to be chilly but mainly dry.
Other Rambles
I love this print that I picked up from Three Cheers Press:

As soon as I find a big enough frame, I'm going to hang it right above my press, as a reminder of the agitatorial nature - and power - of printing.
Happy Labor Day.
See you out there,
PB
