Capturing the World

Capturing the World

I've said this many times, but I'm really drawn to finding ways to capture the world around me in interesting ways. Cyanotype, tree ring prints, frottage, even letterpress where you're working with a set number of letters and pieces, all of these are ways to interact with and record the world. So the other day, I took a kneadable eraser, an ink pad, and a notebook I had made (more on that later), and walked around Negaunee taking impressions of various things I came across.

In other news, my online shop is up and running! Check it out at philbrittonstudio.com, and let me know if you find any bugs. I'll be adding more stuff to it on a regular basis.

Ink on Paper

Not exactly ink, but I did pick up a booklet stapler, with an eye toward making notebooks. I'll have some available at the Chocolay Bayou Art sale on the 24th.

Upcoming Events

August 24th from noon to 5pm (I think, maybe it's 6pm) I'll be at the Chocolay Bayou Art Walk, hanging out in the poet's corner with other wordslingers.

Other Rambles

The Outback was an awesome time, thanks to everyone who stopped by! Participating in that art fair felt like a big leap forward for my work.

We survived the Great Storm-Out-Of-Nowhere-2025!

See you out there,

PB
